Moscow, Moscow, Moscow. That is all Olga, Masha and Irina long for as they face the doldrums of life in a provincial Russian town. Moscow, Moscow, Moscow. That is the only goal they have, the only goal they see, the only goal they can imagine. Moscow, Moscow, Moscow. That is what slips away as the three grind away day after day in a world of repetition and disappointment. Anton Chekhov’s THREE SISTERS presents us with the humanity in everyday life: their fears could be our fears, and the life that grows through the cracks is just as beautiful, just as funny, and just as sad as our own.
